EAST GREENWICH FREE LIBRARY
SERVICE AND INTERLIBRARY LOAN POLICY
The East Greenwich Free Library is a member of the Ocean State Libraries (OSL) consortium. Borrowers with a library card from any OSL library are allowed to borrow materials from any OSL library. The East Greenwich Free Library complies with state law in extending full access and borrowing privileges without charge to all Rhode Island residents. Information about library services, including hours and locations, are available on the library’s website at www.eastgreenwichlibrary.org.
The East Greenwich Free Library, shall provide and promote interlibrary loan services to all patrons holding a valid Ocean State Library card, except those patrons holding local use only cards or those owing more than five dollars in fines, or having materials more than two weeks overdue. Items not found in the public libraries can be requested from other college and university libraries in Rhode Island or may be requested from out-of-state. The availability of these items is dependent on the owning library’s policies. Interlibrary loans obtained from libraries outside the statewide delivery system are subject to a maximum three-week lending period, with no renewals.
The East Greenwich Free Library participates in complete resource sharing of all circulating “holdable” materials, with the exception of equipment or items with special loan periods. Interlibrary loan services are free. Occasionally there may be an additional fee imposed by the loaning library for which the patron will be responsible. Patrons will be notified of these additional fees prior to the loan being ordered so that they can decide to proceed or not with the ILL. Users may request up to three items per month.
