Administrative Assistant

East Greenwich Free Library is seeking an Administrative Assistant to provide administrative and accounting support for the Library. The successful candidate will assist with payroll, accounts payable, donations and fees, budget and expenditure tracking, vendor correspondence, records management, and other administrative functions. The position also provides assistance to Library departments and patrons as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of administrative assistant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of basic office management principles and practices
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, MUNIS, and email applications
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively and courteously with staff and patrons

Schedule: General weekday business hours. Nights and/or weekends may be required for special events.

Per Diem Librarian

Department: Reference & Children’s Services
Employment Type: Per Diem
Compensation: $19.00 per hour

East Greenwich Free Library is seeking qualified Per Diem Librarians to provide as-needed coverage in the Reference and Children’s Departments. The successful candidates will assist patrons of all ages with reference and research questions, reader’s advisory, technology assistance, children’s services, programming, and other general library duties.

Qualifications:

  • Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS/MLS) from an ALA-accredited program required
  • Library students nearing completion of an MLIS/MLS program may be considered
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with patrons of all ages
  • Strong computer and technology skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and willingness to provide coverage on an as-needed basis
  • Previous library experience preferred

Schedule: Per diem staff do not have a set weekly schedule and are contacted as needed to provide coverage for staff absences, vacations, or additional staffing needs. Availability for occasional evenings and/or weekends may be required.
