A Matter of Balance

Mondays beginning April 20th- June 15th* (*No class on Memorial Day, May 25th)

10 AM-12 PM in the Community Room at the East Greenwich Free Library

A Matter of Balance meets once a week for 2 hours over the course of 8 weeks and enables participants to reduce the fear of falling by learning to view falls as controllable, setting goals for increasing activity levels, making small changes to reduce fall risks at home, and exercise to increase strength and balance.

The curriculum includes group discussions, mutual problem solving, role-play activities, exercise training, and assertiveness training. Participants learn about the importance of exercise in preventing falls and practice exercises to improve strength, coordination, and balance. Guest health care professionals will attend to present on medication safety and falls, as well as home safety and learn how to safely get up from a fall.

Registration is required. Please sign up HERE.

This session will also feature the Action Steps program, a fun 45-minute presentation focusing on injury prevention for older adults providing information and local resources, being run by Maria Bucci from 11-12.

If you would like to register for that portion of the program only, please sign up HERE
